Massachusetts Miracle: A New Day is Dawning in America!

It's Tea Time in America!

Last night, "Ted Kennedy's Seat" was taken back by "We the People."  An ordinary citizen named Scott Brown challenged the Washington political machine and won!

This was a victory for We the People and we will rejoice as we continue to work.

How ironic that this miracle would happen where the first tea party took place - in Boston!   At the original Boston Tea Party, Americans fought against King George and his government as they tried to impose taxes and control over the new colony in America.  The people would not have it and they fought hard for their freedom and from that "tea time experience" the Constitution of the United States was born and We the People became free.

Today, the political ruling class has been put on notice that we will not allow any more oppression of our freedoms.  We are proud to be Americans!

This is a message to all Democrats and Republicans.  We the People do not care if you have a R or a D next to your name.  It's about ideology and those who will sit in the seats of Congress better believe in the principles of our founding fathers and the documents they wrote to protect those freedoms.

The political machine has been put on notice  -- We the People declare "It's Tea Time in America!"

Take a look at this 1 minute video from Massachusetts and enjoy the victory.!!  But do not get arrogant as the political machine has done.  We must stay vigilant and keep working to protect our freedoms and return our country back to its foundational philosophy.

Help EFF Stop the Destruction of I-960!

Today we learned that the majority party has gathered enough support to gut Initiative 960 very soon. This paves the way for tax increases and removes citizens' ability to track the cost of proposed tax hikes. Passed by voters in November 2007, I-960 sets a two-thirds threshold for the Legislature to raise taxes and requires the Office of Financial Management to calculate the 10-year cost of every revenue-raising bill introduced.

If legislators suspend I-960, the Evergreen Freedom Foundation's Hey! Big Spender publication will disappear, much to the delight of some chagrined legislators, as we will no longer have the information necessary to compile the list.

Since it’s a pretty big deal to undo the will of the people, we think legislators should go on record. If they have to be public about it, some legislators may re-think their position. Please contact your legislator in the next 48 hours and send us their response (at CAN@EFFWA.ORG) to the following two questions:

1) Do you support informing taxpayers about the cost of proposed legislation, and if so, will you vote to uphold I-960’s transparency provisions?

2) Do you agree with I-960 that two-thirds of the Legislature should agree before passing tax and fee increases?

We will record their answers and post them for the public to see.

Six legislators have already answered the Evergreen Freedom Foundation by saying “yes” publicly to both questions: Sen. Jerome Delvin, Sen. Jim Honeyford, Sen Bob McCaslin, Rep. Larry Haler, Rep. Mike Hope and Rep. Ed Orcutt.

You can also battle the big spenders in Olympia by signing the Freedom Foundation’s petition against new taxes here <http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=61687881&msgid=809437&act=MQJ4&c=354151&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pushbacknotax.com%2F> We’re attempting to gather at least 20,000 signatures by January 24. This will help combat Rebuilding Our Economic Future, a coalition of more than 80 state and national left-of-center groups, which has already collected 20,000 signatures in favor of raising taxes. Help us beat their numbers!

Sign the Petition! <http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=61687881&msgid=809437&act=MQJ4&c=354151&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ipetitions.com%2Fpetition%2Fsavewa%2F>

It’s time to take action against spendthrift politicians who are constantly trying to reach into your wallet. Help us beat back this attempt to get rid of I-960.

Thanks for all that you do!

Never Give Up, Never Surrender

We have voiced our opposition to this over the last several months. We are tired of irresponsible fiscal policies. We are tired of elected officials to do not represent the will of the people. We are angered and outraged over Congress' actions and complete disregard of the will of the people.

We the People want courageous leaders in Congress. We crave those who are willing to stand up and do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.

In the spirit of Winston Churchill, we must never give up. We must never surrender. Now is the time to keep on fighting and keep turning up the heat.

Here are immediate actions you can take:

If you can be in Omaha, Nebraska by 3:00 tomorrow, Sunday, December 20, there will be a protest at the Omaha Music Hall (17th and Capitol). Americans for Prosperity is organizing this event. Apparently, it is our understanding Mike Huckabee will be there.

Sign this petition stating your opposition to government takeover of health care.

Melt the inboxes of these Chiefs of Staff:

Sen. Jim Webb (VA): kimberly_hunter@webb.senate.gov
Sen. Ben Nelson: Jim_fagin@bennelson.senate.gov
Sen. Blanche Lincoln: Todd_Wooten@lincoln.senate.gov

The Senators most likely to listen and to be courageous are: Sens. Webb. Warner, Lincoln, Landrieu, and Liberman. Be sure to call these Senators as well to tell them to vote no on the health care bill. If you have trouble calling the DC offices, call the district offices.

In addition to the calls, it is vital that you reach out to family and friends in Nebraska, Arkansas, Virginia, Connecticut, and Louisiana and ask them to call their Senators.

While melting the phone lines from people outside the states shows the intensity and passion of the American public, the calls from inside the state show the seriousness of their constituents.

Be sure to reach out the Senators who are leading the way to defeat this bill. Thank those Senators and tell them we applaud their efforts. They need to know that we do not leap all Senators in the same category. The Capitol switchboard is (202) 224-3121. Additional phone numbers are listed below.

While you are at church and synagogue this weekend, ask your friends to make the phone calls. Explain why defeating this bill is so vital to our liberty. Explain to those people how to make the phone calls and what to do when the phones are answered. Many, many Americans have never made a phone call to their Senators' office before. So, helping them understand the importance of the calls and what to say on the calls is important.

If you want to watch the live coverage of the US Senate, you can do so here: http://www.c-span.org/Watch/C-SPAN2.aspx.

Last, but especially not least, pray for the Senators to have courage. Pray for our country.

The National and Local Coordinators at Tea Party Patriots will continue to develop plans of actions. Stay tuned for more emails from us as we have more information.

Do not let the pressure off and do not ease up the intensity of your passion.

Keep up the good work! We know you are making personal sacrifices with your time and your money. We are asking you to join us as we sacrifice yet again. We too will take time away from our families this week of Christmas to defend our liberties and our Constitution. Thank you for standing up to do this! Thank you for your sacrifices! They are not being made in vain. We are so proud to stand beside you in this battle. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you!

PriceWaterhouseCooper released an independent study of the Senate Finance Committee version of the government takeover of health care bill. The study showed that American family's budgets will be severely impacted by the bill and that health insurance premiums will increase dramatically. You may wish to read the study and use this as supporting documentation when you contact the Senators. Additionally, you may find some these resources helpful as well:

Tea Party Patriots Health Care Talking Points

Questions to Ask Your Representative About Health Care

You are the heart and soul of the Tea Party Movement. Thank you for promoting the causes of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets!

Thomas Jefferson said eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.  Are you willing to be vigilant to protect our liberty? Then get to DC by December 15th!

Government Waiting Rooms: Get In Line to Die

So many of you are outraged that our demonstrations since February have largely been ignored and have asked how we can get the attention of the elected officials other than a straight up demonstration.

Government Waiting Rooms is the answer to this question.

On December 15, Tea Party Patriots needs those who can be in DC to participate in Government Waiting Rooms - where you sit. and wait. and sit. and wait. and if you sit. and wait. long enough, you "die."

Government Waiting Rooms will highlight the impact of rationing and long, long waiting lists that will occur when and if government takes over our health care.  The idea is the result of brainstorming with over 200 local coordinators and Tea Party Patriots members from around the country. TPP needs at least 1,000 people early that morning to help make this effort successful.  TPP is still working out the details for the exact meet up location before we begin visiting our Senators' offices.  The meet up time will be at or about 8:00 am.

Watch the TPP website daily for updates. UPDATE:  If you are going to DC next week, fill this form out so we know how many hotel rooms we need to help line up.  The Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill is offering a rate of $129 per night.  The hotel needs to know how many rooms before it gives us the link you can use to reserve the room.  We will post a link for the hotel room reservations as soon as we have it which will be later today or tomorrow.

TPP needs you in DC on December 15th. Yes, it is 10 days before Christmas. We all want to be with our families, shopping, and enjoying the holidays.  Even more we want to make sure that the government cannot control our health care.

For those who cannot be in DC on December 15, TPP is asking that we organize a Government Waiting Room or Senate Emergency Call locally.  These targeted Senators should be contacted. Our Senators should be contacted.

TPP is asking for donations again to help pull these activities off.  They plan to purchase hospital gowns or paper gowns to help create the Government Waiting Rooms.

If you can be in DC on the afternoon of December 14, TPP needs your help in prepping for the Government Waiting Rooms.
Use this form to RSVP. They will be in touch with you shortly for when and where to meet.

Senate Emergency Call

Another event happening in DC on December 15 is the Senate Emergency Call.  This events is being hosted by several groups including Tea Party Patriots, Freedom Works, Patients First - a project of Americans for Prosperity, Let Freedom Ring, National Taxpayers Union, and others.

Call, email, fax targeted Senators. Our Senators should be reminded their "chickens will come home to roost" in if they vote yes for this bill.

Candlelight Vigil for Boston Tea Party Anniversary

December 16, is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.  The South Florida Tea Party Patriots groups are having Boston Tea Party Anniversary Candlelight Vigils and have asked the nation to join them for candlelight vigils on December 16.

On December 16, 1773, after officials in Boston refused to return three shiploads of taxed tea to Britain, a group of colonial patriots boarded the ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor. We want to remember them and all the brave patriots who fought for freedom. Please join us for a candlelight vigil - the light of freedom shall not be extinguished!

If you plan a candlelight vigil for your local area, don't forget to list it at Tea Party Patriots. TPP is creating a packet on how to host a Candlelight Vigil and will post it on the website.

Senators Chickens Come Home to Roost

Tea Party Patriots Deliver Rubber Chickens to Senators on Dec. 2

The chickens will come home to roost in 2010 on Wednesday, December 2 at 11:30 am, when the Tea Party Patriots deliver rubber chickens to the Senators who voted in favor of cloture on the Reid Health Care Bill.

Enough is enough. The silent majority will be silent no more. The sleeping giant has been awakened and we will be heard. Here are the facts:

Jenny Beth Martin, Tea Party Patriots National Coordinator asks, "Why won't these Congressmen and Senators listen to 'We the People'? Today, despite their attempts to ignore the citizens of the nation, we're sending the politicians a message that Americans are watching them closely, we're tired of their lies and games, and that and that the chickens will come home to roost in 2010."

Join Tea Party Patriots on December 2nd at 11:30 Eastern time, as we deliver rubber chickens to these Senators.

Citizens of the "other Washington" can't be in DC today, but we can call, email, and fax our Senators who are ignoring the will of the American public.

Call their offices locally and in DC and let them know that the chickens are coming home to roost in 2010 and 2012 and that the American people will hold them accountable if they fail to listen.

Farmer Relief &
Freedom
Relay
Ends in Fresno

On Sunday, November 22, Tea Party Patriots came to our final stop in the Farmer Relief and Freedom Relay in Fresno, California.  We had roughly 33 stops in 2 weeks around the country.

During these stops we raised awareness about the Copenhagen Climate Summit, the Cap and Trade vote in the Senate, and the water issues in the Central Valley of California. Besides raising awareness, we also raised donations for the Farmers on Central Valley.  We raised approximately $15,000 in cash donations to Saving the Valley, hundreds more in gift cards, and truckloads of canned foods and clothing.

As you watch this video, realize what a difference you are making.  You have made a difference in the lives of these farmers.  You have made a difference to the local coordinators in California who have felt alone in their struggle.  You have made a difference in lives of others around the country as they have seen how united we will work together to further our core values.

As the Relay was ending, we began to learn about the climate change cover-up.  We are learning more and more that this is another tactic to increase taxes and take more control our lives.  Senators are beginning to call for a Congressional nvestigation into this scandal.  Watch for action alerts in coming weeks as we continue to work together to ask Congress to vote no on Cap and Trade and to turn the water in California back on.

A special thanks to all Washington State patriots who came out in support of the Relay. Your efforts made a big difference to California farmers. You demonstrate yet again: Americans help each other.

Health Care Heats Up Again

Health Care will heat up again next week in the Senate.  The National Coordinator Team is working with Local Coordinators from around the country on what our next actions will be.  We know Congress can hear us now but they are choosing not to listen.  So, we are thinking outside the box.  We have taken into account many of the ideas you have given us in the past few weeks. Watch for action alerts in coming days about what we are doing next.

As Thanksgiving draws near, we want to thank each and everyone of you for standing shoulder to shoulder with Americans from around the country to make our voices heard!  You are the heart and soul of the tea party movement. As we give thanks tomorrow, the National Coordinators will be thankful to each of you for joining this movement and working to protect the future of our country.  Thank you!!

How the Grassroots Can Stop ObamaCare in the Senate

This is a repost of an article from the Freedom Works website written on June 18th by Brendan Steinhauser. Still relevant today, it provides some great ideas that all local organizations need to be doing right now.

Below is a campaign plan that can be applied to any local volunteer leader that wants to make a tangible difference in this fight.

Targets: The best targets for this campaign are the swing votes in the Senate, like Sen. Lincoln (AR), Sen. Bayh (IN), Nelson (NE) and Hagan (NC). Moderate Democrats and Liberal Republicans should be the main targets of any effort to stop ObamaCare.

Timing: We don’t have much time, so activists should get busy now.

Tactic 1: District Office Visits. Send one or two volunteers into the local offices of the targeted politician every day that you can. Have volunteers agree beforehand on the schedule and follow up with them to make sure they drop by, meet with staff, take pictures and take good notes to gather intel. The best activists for an office visit are doctors, small business owners and health care workers. Ask them to give their personal stories as to why ObamaCare would harm them or the people they care for.

Tactic 2: Phone Calls. We should be hitting each target with 100 calls a day. Some of these should go to the district offices as well. Make s40ure that we at least get our total every day (even if people from out of state are calling) so that we keep the phones ringing constantly. When you call, ask to speak to the chief of staff or the legislative director, and leave them voice mails. Get your friends to do the same thing until their voice mailbox is filled up. This will send a message loud and clear.

Tactic 3: Letters. Get volunteers to hand write letters to the targeted politicians that can be delivered in person during a district office visit. Collect dozens of letters each week and ask people to provide their personal stories about how ObamaCare would harm them or someone they know. Also make sure that at least two letters to the editor are submitted every day about health care to the local newspapers. Your goal should be to have three or four letters each week in the papers that point out some problem with ObamaCare.

Tactic 4: Petitions. Gather hundreds or even thousands of petition signatures against government-run health care and higher taxes. Try to get as many doctors, nurses, patients and small business owners as you can to sign the petition. Use the petition gathering effort as a way to get media attention. Put out a press release announcing the effort and deliver the signatures each week to your targeted politician’s district office.

Tactic 5: Town Hall Visits. If your targeted politician is hosting a town hall meeting or listening session be sure to get there. Bring as many people with you as you can and be the first ones to ask a question. Fill up as many seats as possible! Ask tough, specific questions about health care and put the politician on the spot.

Tactic 6: Protest. Schedule one or two protests per week outside the district office of the target. Hold up signs that say something like “Does Blanche Lincoln Support $1 Trillion in New Taxes?” Focus on the specific person, and deliver a message that makes the target defend themselves on the issues. Don’t talk about Obama or about Congress, but specifically about your targeted politician. Make it personal, and get as much media attention as you can.
